From April 18 to July 12, the University of Kassel is pleased to welcome three early-career social science researchers from Universidad Nacional de San Martín in Buenos Aires. Clara Victoria Zuñiga Mendoza is a PhD student in Sociology. Her dissertation project examines how institutional fragmentation and hybrid socio-material assemblages co-produce unequal access to water and sanitation in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Region between 2006 and 2023. Lourdes Alvez Taylor is also a PhD student in Sociology. Her thesis examines the transformations in the position occupied by the CNEA (National Atomic Energy Commission) within Argentina’s nuclear policy following the reactivation of the Argentine nuclear plan (2006–2024). It analyzes the evolution of the CNEA’s sphere of influence and the ways in which the sociotechnical disputes and controversies surrounding nuclear energy generation have shaped its trajectory. Georgina Pecchia is a masters student in Narrative Journalism. Her thesis project investigates the relationships between environmental sustainability, migration, and the production of raw materials through a study of the trajectories of migrant producers of flowers and vegetables in the green belt of La Plata district (Argentina).
